Radial Variation of Wood Anatomical Properties Determines the Demarcation of Juvenile-Mature Wood in Schima superba

چکیده

Schima superba is a precious broadleaf tree species that produces excellent timber. Analyzing the radial variation of wood anatomical properties within stems and determining boundary between juvenile mature can provide theoretical basis for breeding cultivation S. superba. Herein, 30 54-year-old trees were used to analyze qualitatively. The correlation among was analyzed. On this basis, four types model predict quantitatively, optimal segmentation determine wood. results showed early stage (before 20th year) larger than later (after year); moreover, vessel features (9.56%) greater fiber (7.42%), lumen diameter (11.94%) length (8.00%) had most variation. There three patterns in properties. In stage, there significant positive ring width air-dry density (0.78) basic (0.89), negative characters (?0.79~?0.93) (?0.64~?0.90). growth models Logistic Richards more suitable (R2 = 84.2%~95.2%) nonlinear least square 67.7%~90.9%). transition from 11th 16th year based on aggregative indicators pith bark at breast height. Finally, when taken together, regular Breeding programs need consider both but they be neglected stage. formation occurred after year.

Strength Properties of Juvenile and Mature Wood of Twelve Families of Loblolly Pine (Pinus Taeda L.)

The wood mechanical properties of progeny from twelve open-pollinated parent trees were examined. Six families were from parents which had high wood specific gravity and six were from parents which had low wood specific gravity. Thirty-two-year-old trees, that had been planted at Many, Louisiana, were sampled and juvenile and mature wood test specimens were prepared. Maximum crushing strength, ...

Variation of Wood Pulping and Bleached Pulp Properties Along the Stem in Mature Eucalyptus globulus Trees

The wood of a mature (40-year-old) Eucalyptus globulus Labill tree was characterized at different stem height levels (0%, 10%, 35%, and 50% of total height) regarding pulping, bleaching, and paper properties. Pulp yields increased upwards from 46% to 50%, and Kappa number decreased from 17.5 to 12.3 at 0 and 50% height, respectively. The estimated specific wood consumption ranged from 3.2 m odt...

Variability in wood properties of promising willow clones

The objective of the article is to investigate the variability in growth and wood properties of the willow clones. The growth and wood traits of four year old 21 clones willow clones were investigated. Analysis of variance showed that willow clones differed significantly for all the studied growth and wood traits. Among the growth parameters the maximum heritability value was shown by height wh...

Properties of Wood and Structural Wood Products

Wood differs from other construction materials because it is produced in a living tree. As a result, wood possesses material properties that may be significantly different from other materials normally encountered in structural design. Although it is not necessary to have an in-depth knowl edge of wood anatomy and properties, it is necessary for the engineer to have a general understanding of ...
